You can apply for a duplicate, if the certificate you’ve already lost is still valid. If not, you will have to take the test again.

If you could not sit the test due to ill-health, please may you supply CS LINKS with a doctors note, and we shall re-schedule the test. However if you can not provide evidence of this, we shall re-schedule the test after payment has been made.

How long is a CSCS card valid for?

Most of the CSCS cards are valid for 5 years. The only exception is the Trainee cards (for people who are in the process of gaining their qualifications). Trainee Cards are temporary and are valid for 1 or 3 years (duration depends on the course the person is taking).

How long is the health, safety & environment test valid for ?

The health, safety & environment test is valid for 2 years. Upon a successful application for a CSCS Card, your test qualification will be extended for the duration of the card which is 5 years.

How long and how many questions are in the Operatives Health, Safety & Environment Test?

The Health, Safety & Enviornment test is for 45 minutes and consists of around 50 multiple choice questions and to pass. Results are given immediately after the test.

How can I prepare for the CSCS test?

Each DVD-ROM has a Mock test, so you can read all possible questions and answers and practice passing the test at home before going to the test centre.

Can another person take my place for a test, as I can not sit the test?

It is not possible for another person to take your place for the test. This is because all your details have been generated into the central data base with personal details that are unique to yourself. Upon arrival at the test centre, a proof of identification is mandatory.

Am I exempt from taking the Health, Safety & Environment Test if I have completed an NVQ qualification in the past 2 years?

The exemption from taking the health, safety & environment test, if one has completed their NVQ in the past two years is correct. However please contact our customer service department, as they will need further details from you in order to ascertain your eligibility for the exemption.

Can I start work without the CSCS card as I have the certificate?

The CSCS Card is constantly being required by managers and is a major requirement for one to work on site. There are some construction sites that will allow you on site without the card, however they may request proof that the card is being processed. The Card shows proof of Health and Safety competence. Although the Health, Safety & Environment certificate is issued upon passing the test, it is only valid for 2 years and the card is valid for 5 years. Please check with your employer if they will allow you on site.
